I guess this means I'm a Triathlete now!

I finished! According to my unofficial times from my watch, I finished in 3 hour 29 min 58 sec! A whole 2 seconds under my goal!

If you’re just starting here, check out my story from the beginning:
Race Day Part 1 – Pre Race
Race Day Part 2 – the swim
Race Day Part 3 – Bike
Race Day Part 4 – The Run
Finishing was a huge relief. After 3.5 hours of continuous movement and exertion, I could finally stop, grab some water, and sit down for a moment. I got some bananas from a tent and some water from a table and tried to calm down and relax. It was a weird feeling because so many people finished before me. I actually don’t know if there was anyone after me or not. I think there was one woman I passed, but I’m not even certain of that.
The most important thing, though, that I reminded myself of was that before I saw any other competitors, before I did anything today, I had decided my goal was 3.5 hours and I made it.
Here are how the splits worked out:
Swim: 41:37
T1: 6:28
Bike: 1:25:18
T2: 2:26
Run: 1:14:08
So the next question, of course, is would I do this again. An enthusiastic Yes! Followed by a “but” and a “no”. Yes I want to do another triathlon! In fact, I’m considering one in Delaware OH at the end of August. But No, I don’t think I’m going to do another Olympic distance in the near future. I realized today that I would have been in much better shape throughout the entire race if I had done a sprint distance. I wasn’t the fastest at anything, but I wouldn’t have been as slow in so many things.
So now I feel ready to join COTT, the Central Ohio Triathlon Team and continue pursuing this sport for years to come!

Congratulations, Rob!!! It was great seeing you accomplish such a feat. Most people couldn’t even do one leg of it let along a whole Triathlon.
